Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 30 July – 05 August 2024

The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 18 maritime-related
incidents during the reporting period of 30 July – 05 August 2024. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 30-JUL-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 53 migrants intercepted west of Rincon, Puerto Rico.
  • 30-JUL-24 – Robbery – Attempted theft of dinghy in Halifax Bay, Grenada.
  • 30-JUL-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 196 migrants rescued in Mediterranean Sea.
  • 30-JUL-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 130 Migrants rescued from the English Channel.
  • 30-JUL-24 – General Security Warning – Unmanned surface vehicles intercepted in the Red Sea.
  • 30-JUL-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – Over 30 suspected Cuban migrants come ashore in Key West.
  • 31-JUL-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 39 migrants intercepted off Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.
  • 31-JUL-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 61 migrants detected crossing the English Channel.
  • 31-JUL-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 33 migrants rescued off the coast of Mugla, Turkey.
  • 31-JUL-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 72 migrants rescued off the coast of Izmir, Turkey.
  • 01-AUG-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 103 migrants intercepted off the coast of Mugla, Turkey.
  • 01-AUG-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 68 migrants intercepted off Izmir, Turkey.
  • 02-AUG-24 – General Security Warning – Multiple uncrewed surface vessels intercepted in Red Sea.
  • 02-AUG-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 128 migrants intercepted in English Channel.
  • 02-AUG-24 – Attack – Russian Kilo class submarine ROSTOV ON DON attacked in Sevastolpol Port.
  • 02-AUG-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 128 migrants intercepted in English Channel.
  • 03-AUG-24 – Attack – Container vessel GROTON attacked 125nm east of Aden, Yemen.
  • 04-AUG-24 – Migrant and Refugee Incident – 139 Migrants intercepted in English Channel.
