The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 24 maritime-related
incidents during the reporting period of 23 – 29 January 2024. The following incidents were recorded:

• 24-JAN-24 – Suspicious Approach – Suspicious approach 960nm SE of Eyl, Somalia.
• 24-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 60 migrants rescued off Cyprus.
• 24-JAN-24 – Attack – Missiles fired at commercial vessel in the Gulf of Aden.
• 25-JAN-24 – Robbery – Supply vessel robbed, Luanda anchorage, Angola.
• 25-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 58 migrants detained off Izmir, Turkey.
• 25-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 38 migrants detained off Canakkale, Turkey.
• 25-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 48 migrants detected crossing the English Channel.
• 26-JAN-24 – Attack – Tanker hit by missile 60nm SE of Aden, Yemen.
• 26-JAN-24 – General Security Warning – US navy shoots down anti-ship ballistic missile in Gulf of Aden.
• 26-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 32 migrants detained off Mugla, Turkey.
• 26-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 61 migrants rescued off Izmir, Turkey.
• 26-JAN-24 – Robbery – Product tanker robbed at Kakinada Anchorage, India.
• 27-JAN-24 – Attack – Bulk Carrier attacked 700nm SE of Salalah, Oman.
• 27-JAN-24 – General Security Warning – Pirate action group 600nm ESE of Socotra Island, Indian Ocean.
• 27-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 112 migrants intercepted crossing the English Channel.
• 27-JAN-24 – Attack – Fishing vessel hijacked in the Indian Ocean.
• 27-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 75 migrants detained and rescued off Izmir, Turkey.
• 27-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 87 migrants detained off Canakkale, Turkey.
• 28-JAN-24 – Approach – MV approached 70nm NW of Bosaso, Somalia.
• 28-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 276 migrants intercepted crossing the English Channel.
• 29-JAN-24 – Approach – MV approached 44nm W of Mocha, Yemen.
• 29-JAN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – Migrants boat capsizes in Gulf of Uraba, off Colombia.
• 29-JAN-24 – Hijack – Indian navy frees hijacked dhow IMAN off Somalia.
