Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 11 – 17 June 2024

The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 14 maritime-related
incidents during the reporting period of 11 – 17 June 2024. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 11-JUN-24 – Drugs Interdiction – Two narco-subs intercepted by naval forces offshore Colombia, Pacific Ocean.
  • 11-JUN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 33 migrants intercepted off the coast of Mugla, Turkey.
  • 11-JUN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 11 migrants intercepted off the coast of Aydin, Turkey.
  • 11-JUN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 23 migrants intercepted off the coast of Izmir, Turkey.
  • 12-JUN-24 – Attack – Underway vessel MV TUTOR hit by USV 75 nm SW of Al Hudaydah, Yemen, Red Sea.
  • 12-JUN-24 – Drugs Interdiction – $4 million worth of cocaine seized at San Juan, Puerto Rico.
  • 12-JUN-24 – Suspicious Approach – Suspicious approach of MV off Takoradi, Ghana.
  • 12-JUN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 79 Migrants rescued in the English Channel.
  • 12-JUN-24 – Attack – Underway bulk carrier VERBENA hit by missile in the Gulf of Aden.
  • 13-JUN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – 105 migrants detected crossing the English Channel.
  • 13-JUN-24 – Attack – Cargo vessel SEAGUARDIAN attacked 82nm NW of Al Hudaydah, Yemen, Sea
  • 14-JUN-24 – Robbery – Yemeni fishing dhow robbed of fuel and supplies in Indian Ocean.
  • 16-JUN-24 – Attack – Explosions close to an MV 40 nm south of Al Mukha, Yemen.
  • 17-JUN-24 – Migrant & Refugee Incident – Two migrant boats shipwrecked south of Lampedusa, Italy.
