Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 10 – 16 September 2024

The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 17 maritime-related
incidents during the reporting period of 10 – 16 September 2024. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 10-SEP-24 Drugs Interdiction – USCG intercept narco-sub in Caribbean Sea.
  • 10-SEP-24 Drugs Interdiction – Suspected drug smuggler intercepted off Roatan, Honduras.  
  • 10-SEP-24 General Security Warning – Multiple weapon systems intercepted in Red Sea / Yemeni region.
  • 10-SEP-24 Attack – Marine patrol attacked on Timbiqui River, Colombia.
  • 10-SEP-24 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 149 migrants rescued off the coast of Izmir, Turkey.
  • 11-SEP-24 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 101 migrants intercepted off Izmir, Turkey.
  • 11-SEP-24 Migrant & Refugee Incident –  29 migrants intercepted off Çanakkale, Turkey.
  • 11-SEP-24 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 16 migrants intercepted off Mugla, Turkey.
  • 11-SEP-24 Attack – Bulk carrier AYA hit by missile in Black Sea.
  • 11-SEP-24 Boarding – Three oil platforms boarded in Gulf of Mexico, NW of Campeche, Mexico.
  • 11-SEP-24 General Security Warning – Military engagement on a black sea oil platform.
  • 13-SEP-24 Boarding – Bulk Carrier SEA VOYAGER boarded in Singapore Strait.
  • 13-SEP-24 Drug Interdiction – Fishing boat carrying cocaine detained off Cornwall.
  • 13-SEP-24 Robbery – Bulk carrier ATLANTIC TIGER robbed in the Singapore Strait.
  • 14-SEP-24 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 801 Migrants rescued while crossing the English Channel.
  • 15-SEP-24 Migrant & Refugee Incident – Eight migrants die during English Channel crossing.
  • 15-SEP-24 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 292 migrants detected crossing the English Channel
