Weekly Maritime Summary 30 September - 6 October 2019

The Securewest Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded three maritime related incidents and during the reporting period of 30 September to 6 October 2019.

Maritime Weekly Incidents

 

  • On 30-Sep-2019 – Boarding - the underway Bulk Carrier TRANSPACIFIC was boarded in position approximately 11 nm SSE of Port of Jurong, Singapore. Five intruders armed sighted on the ship deck. The alarm was raised, but intruders already escaped. Crew safe and no items were taken.

  • On 02-Oct-2019 – General Security Warning - Russian border guards opened fire on a North Korean fishing boat and detained 21 crew for alleged poaching in the Sea of Japan

  • On 03-Oct-2019 – Migrant and Refugee Incident - Three migrants who tried to cross the English Channel in a kayak were intercepted by the UK Border Force.

Migrants and refugee incidents Migrant and Refugee Incident: This could involve Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, or information about a boat capsizing and people drowning, or an attack on the group.

RobberyGeneral Security Warning: Incidents which do not fit in the other categories, but enhance the situational awareness, e.g. flag state advisories or an attack on a non- commercial vessel such as a warship.
