Weekly Maritime Incident Summary 18 – 24 Feb 2025

The Securewest International Maritime Assistance Centre (MAC) recorded 16 maritime related incidents during the reporting period of  18 – 24 February 2025. The following incidents were recorded:

  • 18-FEB-25 Drug Interdiction – Over 100 kilos of cocaine discovered on Baltic Seabed.
  • 18-FEB-25 Drug Interdiction – Suspected drug smugglers intercepted in Cadiz Province, Spain.
  • 18-FEB-25 Drug Interdiction – Hong Kong authorities seize illegal goods off Lamma Island, China.
  • 18-FEB-25 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 70 migrants intercepted off Izmir, Turkey.
  • 18-FEB-25 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 42 migrants intercepted offshore of Crete, Greece.
  • 18-FEB-25 Drug Interdiction – 800 kilos of cocaine seized in Gioia port, Italy.
  • 18-FEB-25 Robbery – Dinghy stolen at in Simpson Bay Lagoon, Sint Maarten.
  • 18-FEB-25 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 30 migrants detained off Point Loma, California, USA.
  • 18-FEB-25 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 23 migrants detained from two boats off Florida.
  • 19-FEB-25 Drug Interdiction – Migrants used as drug mules across the Adriatic Sea.
  • 19-FEB-25 Robbery – Suspected thieves arrested on offshore platform off Malaysia.
  • 21-FEB-25 General Security Warning – Possible limpet mine attack on vessel off Savona-Vado, Italy.
  • 21-FEB-25 Boarding – Cargo ship boarded in the Singapore Strait.
  • 21-FEB-25 Migrant & Refugee Incident – 14 migrants detained off Encinitas, California.
  • 22-FEB-25 Migrant & Refugee Incident – Migrant boat capsizes off Panama.
  • 23-FEB-25 General Security Warning – Live firing notice for North Arabian Sea.
